Brooke Villanyi
Vocals/Guitar
Captain Wolf Music
Growing up I was strongly influenced by my grandfather Les James,
a
Hungarian Jazz pianist. My first instrument was therefore piano,
and I
have continued using piano basics for writing and playing. Starting
in
elementary school I played clarinet for 6 years, saxaphone for 2,
drums for 3. I picked up guitar 5 years ago for personal
chosen
it as my principle instrument to study at Berklee, which is the first
formal training I will have had on any instrument. I have played
with
a few jam bands, and played for many open mics and school events
over
the past 4 years.

While at Berklee I intend to pursue a Professional Music Degree
with
emphasis on Songwriting, Music Production and Engineering, and
Performance. As for career plans, I hope to be successful in any of
those three areas, or a combination of any of them.

Q: Tell us about your act, music style, and brief history, including
band members and what instruments they play.
A: I am a solo artist as of now, looking for some other people to
play with that have the same goals and styles I have. Some of my
influences are Fleetwood Mac, Alanis Morrisette, Sheryl Crow, and
Michelle Branch. I play guitar and sing, I can get around on the
piano as well

Q: What have been some important gigs or venues you've played?
A: I have played a few important events at my high school such as
talent shows, assembly's and music honor society meetings. I have
also
done a few arts showcases in Austin Texas, as well as many open
microphones around Austin.

Q: What are you working on now?
A: I am working on perfecting the songs that I have already, to
prepare for playing around the Boston area. A few songs are in the
works as well.

Q: What kind of people or opportunities are you hoping to find on
Berkleemusic?
A: I hope to find musicians that share the same goals and styles as i
do. I'm also looking for any opportunity to learn about music, the
industry, or any opportunity to play.

Press:
"This is one of the most original writers I have heard in a long time
and being a product of the 60s and 70s, I can appreciate her
originality and sensitive song subjects.
The music business is such a difficult and challenging collection of
rejection and disappointment but every once in a while there is a
glimmer of hope and that is evident in Brooke's voice and music."
